Blogs I Like: LeadershipNow

You can learn a lot from a good example. That’s why every week I highlight one great business blog. This week, it’s LeadershipNow. This is a blog for leaders who are readers.

Simple, eh? The primary audience is clear. If you’re a leader and you read to do your job better, then you’ll love this blog that’s written by Michael McKinney. Even if leaders are not your primary audience and leadership is not your main subject, you can learn a lot from the different ways Michael crafts posts for his primary readers.

There are book reviews. These are savvy and thorough reviews. Check out: “7 Keys to Managing Willful Blindness.” Note “The Big Idea” capsule at the end of the post.

There are “Leading Views” and “Leadership Nuggets” which are short posts derived from a leadership book. Check out: “James Stockdale on Leadership.”

There are think pieces such as “Avoid Trivia

Every month Michael posts a “First Look” at the leadership books for that month. I’m pointing you to the post for January 2012.

There are pointers to other resources, too. At the end of each month, Michael posts “LeadershipNow 140,” where he lists some quality tweets from the previous month. I’m pointing you to the post for December 2011.

Read these with an eye toward what you can learn from Michael McKinney’s example and what good ideas you can transfer to your own blog.

Was that helpful? If it was you may want to check the complete list of blogs I’ve reviewed.
