You can learn a lot from a good example. That’s why every week I highlight one great business blog. This week, it’s Art Petty’s Management Excellence blog.
I first discovered Art’s work when I reviewed a book that he and Rich Petro wrote, Practical Lessons in Leadership. In my review I said that the book was “the best practical book on leadership that I’ve read in at least twenty years.” It’s a great book.
Art’s blog is a great blog, too. In his own words, it’s “Art Petty on Leadership, Management and Professional Development.” That wouldn’t be worth much if Art didn’t have helpful things to say or if he wrote poorly. Thankfully, he has a lot to offer and produces some of the tightest, highest value posts out there.
He’s turned several of his posts into a book, called Leadership Caffeine after a regular feature on the blog. If you like Art’s posts, you’ll love the book and also the podcast that goes by the same name.
Here are some representative posts from the last year or so. Read them with an eye toward what you can learn from Art’s example. He’s been doing this a while, so I’m leading with one of the first posts of his that I noticed. It’s from early 2008 and looks different from the other selections.
