The best or nothing

May 13, 2014 | Writing A Book

“Das Beste oder nichts.”

That was Gottlieb Daimler’s motto. Mercedes Benz took it as their advertising slogan in 2010. Their translation is: “The best or nothing.” It’s a good motto for you if you plan to write a book.

There are already too many crappy books in the world

Some are poorly written. Some have bad information. Some offer complex solutions for simple problems. Others offer facile solutions for complex problems. Why add another crappy book to the pile?

Your book is you.

People will judge you by your book. Why make a lousy impression?

There are no shortcuts

Writing a book is like anything worth doing, there are no shortcuts to excellence. The good news is that there’s no magic either. You can learn. You can get help. In the end, it’s all about technique and diligence. If you’re going to write a book, vow to write a great one.
