Jeff Bezos is the founder and CEO of Amazon, the everything store. He’s one of the great Digital Age entrepreneuers, so you can be forgiven if you think he’s numbers driven. Don’t get me wrong data are important, but they’re not as important as words.

Executives at Amazon often begin staff meetings by reading each other’s memos about the subjects under consideration. For Bezos, here’s why carefully written memos trump PowerPoint slides.
