Jan 5, 2012 | Better Writing

Stephen King is not only one of the most successful writers in the world, and one of the scariest; he’s also one of the best at giving practical writing advice. If you’re serious about writing well, pick up a copy of his book, On Writing.

In that book, King recommends that you have a writing room. It should be simple, he says. In fact,

“It really needs only one thing: a door that you are willing to shut. The closed door is your way of telling the world and yourself that you mean business; that you have made a serious commitment to write and intend to walk the walk as well as talk the talk.”
