How ideas are like kisses

If you want to get a kiss, how do you improve your odds?

Your best bet is to go where you’ve gotten kisses before. Then do the things you did to get those kisses. Getting good ideas works pretty much the same way.

If you want a good idea, do what you did to get good ideas in the past. The three most common situations for me to get good ideas are doing housework, exercising, and walking. So when I need a flash of inspiration, that’s what I do.

What about you? If you get ideas while exercising, head for the gym. If you get good ideas while driving, grab the car keys and go. Just make sure you have a way to capture the good ideas you’ll get.

Got it? Great. Now I’m going for a walk to see if I can come up with idea for my next blog post.
