James Michener was one of my favorite novelists. I loved his sprawling 1000+ page historical novels. I wasn’t alone. His books have sold some 75 million copies worldwide. You might think that someone with that kind of career would think of himself as a good writer. But here’s what Michener had to say about himself.
“I’m not a very good writer, but I’m an excellent rewriter.”
