Nathan Englander has reached the stage of his writing career where other writers and critics line up to contribute blurbs to publicize his work. I confess that I’ve never read anything of his, but I came across this answer he gave to a Daily Beast interviewer that I just had to share. The question was “What advice would you give to an aspiring author?” Here’s Nathan Englander’s answer.
“Turn off your cell phone. Honestly, if you want to get work done, you’ve got to learn to unplug. No texting, no email, no Facebook, no Instagram. Whatever it is you’re doing, it needs to stop while you write.”
