In 2011, AMACOM published Kristi Hedges’ book, The Power of Presence: Unlock Your Potential to Influence and Engage Others. In 2013, she wrote a piece for Forbes about her experience titled “Want To Write A Business Book? Save Some Pain And Read This First.”
If you’re thinking about writing a book, you should follow the link and read the entire article. I’m sharing her first point, to give you the flavor of the article and because it’s something many of my clients don’t expect. Kristi’s advice is to “love your topic.” Here’s why.
“After you write the book, you’ll be even more associated with the topic to a wider universe of people. Your business and/or career will be shaped around it. Thankfully, that worked for me because I feel so strongly about the topic — but it was more luck than design.”
