One of the challenges you face as a blogger is coming up with ideas for your regular posts. Here’s one way to meet that challenge.
Step One: Get ideas. No problem. That’s a natural human function. The spark could be a news item or a conversation with a colleague or it could just spring up from relaxed thinking.
Step Two: Capture ideas. This is critical and it’s often the difference between “creative” people and everyone else. When you get an idea, write it down right away. Or record it right away. If you don’t, your idea will be gone. This is easy, but you have to develop the habit of capturing ideas.
Step Three: Review, revise and combine. Most ideas don’t work well in their original form. You have to apply a little mental effort to get from the raw material idea(s) to an idea you can use. This is easy and usually fun, but it takes discipline. Review your ideas regularly. Take the time to work them into a core idea that you can use for a post. Be sure you save resources you want to share.
Step Four: Write the post. Take that workable idea and start writing. Review, read aloud, and revise.
