Seth Godin is the master of provocative advice. That’s why so many of us read his books and his blog. My favorite Seth Godin book is The Dip. In the midst of all the advice about staying the course and persevering, Seth writes a great little book about when and how to quit.
That’s why I’m pointing you to a whole list of Seth’s advice for authors, which includes a link to a second list of advice for writers. Here’s my favorite of all the pieces of advice on both lists.
“The best time to start promoting your book is three years before it comes out. Three years to build a reputation, build a permission asset, build a blog, build a following, build credibility and build the connections you’ll need later.”
